Dear Scout Leader.
Pottery Zone is pleased to participate in the tradition of earning Scout badges.

The cost for each person is $11-40 depending on the project selected to do. You will have your own private instructor who will guide and teach the class chosen. We also have a party room to ensure privacy and if needed the store can be closed to accommodate your needs. We do offer Ceramics and Clay requirements earned in one of our class descriptions for “Scout Badge” and we can meet the needs of your ceramics and clay lists. From your “Create and invent” lists we can do the following. The session to complete all 6 will need to be broken into two hour sessions each. Numbers 1, 2, and 3 would be combined to form a two hour class and numbers 4, 5 and 6 would be the other half of the two hour class. The cost for that is $25 per person.

  1. Make it with Clay
    a. We can make a pinch pot with from slab clay or from air dry clay.
  2. Coil Up!
    a. We can make a piece of pottery using the coil method. The girls/bys will learn the basics of forming a pot and joining the coils together.
  3. Handle with Care
    a. We will teach how to handle the clay with care, showing how to store and keep it moist for future use, and how to attach two pieces together with use of slip.
  4. Fuel and Fire
    a. Talk about the ins and outs of a studio, how it works and the process from start to finish.
  5. Decorate Bisque ware
    a. The girls/boys can work on a bisque project, ornaments, tiles, etc and experiment with different techniques.

From the 10 requirements listed in your scout manual we can help and assist in 5 of those to fulfill the requirement needed.

Not interested in clay?
If you decide what you want to do is paint a cereal bowl or mug. We will do a special technique with your group and build it onto a theme that you select. The cost for the mug/bowl is $12 per person. A plate can be done as well where we can do any scene for any occasion. Cost is $13 for 8” or $15 or 11” plate per person. We can put a package together to suit your needs.
Holiday time?
During Holidays, we also offer ornament painting for $12 per person and clay pumpkin making. The clay pumpkin class is $40 per person. Reservations required on all classes.
